Vanguard SIPP Payment Problem

Help, I’m looking for any advice please. I paid just under three thousand pounds into my Vanguard SIPP via debit card and they cannot find the payment. The money has definitely left my account and been sent to Vanguard and my bank has provided the transaction numbers as proof, which I passed on. I’m fobbed off everytime I phone or message with ‘we’re waiting for another team’. Even after raising an official complaint I have been waiting for weeks. My bank say they cannot do chargeback as it was a pension payment. Any suggestions please as I am stressed out with this!

I'm not sure what we can suggest, except to do what you're doing - to keep pressuring Vanguard for a response.

At least they haven't said they didn't receive it.

i would keep phoning until you get a response as that doesn't sound acceptable at all. the 3k would presumably show on their bank statement and they just need to work through what they've done with it.

unfortunately i was with Vanguard for only a brief few months and found them and their customer services/admin processes to be totally overrated owing to the basic errors that were made and then when i decided to transfer back to HL they couldn't even manage that properly. None of which is relevant to your case but i do sympathise with your attempts to get them to deal with something correctly.

I wouldn't panic about it, eventually it will be found.

Keep chasing them. We transferred 2 very small pensions into Vanguard SIPPs that we both have. Transfer requests submitted on the same day.

Mine arrived OK and showed in account. My wife's took another month and loads of chasing. For the aggro they did pay some "compensation" to us so we were happy with the eventual outcome.

Final thought, is anything showing in the Transaction tab as pending? My wife's transfer was in there for ages.
  • Nothing shown in ‘pending’ and still waiting for my money to be found. The ‘senior’ payments team member has messaged to say that my complaint will be passed onto the complaints department AFTER my money is found, so they don’t want the complaints department to get involved yet even though I’ve raised a complaint! Vanguard need to seriously look at their procedures.

What do you mean by “weeks” - exactly how long has it been since the money left your account?
