I need some advice please ! I have one 1.2k chicken crown stuffed with pheasant & then stuffing, & a 1.9k chicken crown with stuffing, both for christmas day. Both have been in the deep freeze & are absolutely frozen solid. My mum said to get them out tonight & leave in the fridge until I cook them (Tues late am). Is this sufficient time or too much ? Please help lovely OS-ers,
many thanks !

I'd agree with your Mum. After all, if they defrost a few hours early, then they will be fine in the fridge for that time. Better safe than sorryA friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0

I bought a frozen 5.4kg turkey. I took it out of the freezer on Saturday morning and left in a cool room until teatime then put in my fridge over night. I took it out the fridge approx 11pm last night and left over night in my cool kitchen. This morning at 6am i put it back in the fridge again...its still has some ice crystals inside but i'm sure it will be defrosted by the morning if i leave in the fridge now. I darent leave it out any longer (hope its ok)0

I've just left ours both in the fridge (not alot of space left !). Mum suggested I leave them out in the garage cos its cold but I'd rather defrost things in the fridge. I've never defrosted something so solid before IFYKWIM, usually its chicken/turkey with cavity, so thanks for everyones comments. Good luck tomorrow everyone, hope it all goes well & you all have a lovely Christmas !

I got a lamb on the bone 1.08kg. Should I take it out of the freezer now to defrost? I can put it in the fridge, I'm supposed to start cooking it tomorrow morning around 9.00. I don't normally freeze my meat so this is a new one for me....0

I would get it in the fridge now, greenpixie, as long as it's kept cool, it won't matter if it defrosts early. Don't forget to get it to room temperature before cooking though! Merry Christmas!0
