I’m 75 and have a reduced state pension as I’m 2 years short on my NI for years April 1975 to April 1977. I’ve applied for HRP but been refused as HMRC said I’m outside the qualifying period as it was only introduced in 1978.
Any other thoughts please on what I could do. I’ve already tried claiming on my husbands NI but we’re now divorced and he left the UK in 1990. TIA

As your date of birth was 1948 (give or take a year) you would have reached State Pension Age (SPA) at 60, under the old pension scheme rules.Ragdoll1967 said:I’m 75 and have a reduced state pension as I’m 2 years short on my NI for years April 1975 to April 1977. Exactly how much State pension are you receiving (excluding any pension credit) ? Did you ever pay the married woman's 'little stamp'?
In the meantime, I'm afraid trying to plug your 1975 to 1977 gap is a non-starter, as HRP didn't apply and it's not possible to pay voluntary contributions that far back.1 -
You are sure that you don't qualify for Pension Credit?

No I don’t qualify for pension credit as I’ve remarried and our joint income rules me out. If I’d been single still I would have qualified.0

How much is your own State pension?
