help me with my xmas meat juggling act oh wise OSers

The problem - we are having a smallish turkey, as well as pork and beef on xmas day. I won't be able to fit them all in the oven at the same time - not with separate veggie and non-veggie roasties anyway. Which of the meats could easier bear sitting around for a couple of hours without being horrid or giving everyone a dicky tummy

TIA

Have you got a slow cooker to put one of them in?

Beef would most likely be the safest to leave warm

You could do one the night before
One day I might be more organised...........

  • I would do the pork beforehand and freeze it to serve in slices

I would do the beef and pork first. Then heat up slices of the beef in it's gravy and serve the pork cold (or heat it through in the microwave). The turkey would be best freshly cooked IMO.

I would serve the non-veggies the same roasted spuds as the veggies. They'll never know the difference once they are on their plates with everything else.

Agree about the beef. You have to be careful with pork and poultry.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

agree with bogoff-babe only do veggie roast pots and give to all - they wont know the difference..my mum insists on cooking potatoes round the meat or in lard if cooking big meat such as xmas turkey.. as a veggie i have never got a look in - i am meat intolarent not eaten since 2 - dont eat roast tatties as a result. we do have roast parsnips in olive oil but only at christmas as me and dad like them but not mum and brother - if everyone liked them i wouldnt get em as would be cooked in lard - their loss!!

why do you need so much meat options!!

Oh well just trying to please all of the people all of the time sigh.
dd11 is veggie and has been for about 18 months now. as it is just me and her at home I rarely get a chance to do a proper-meaty-roast dinner with proper-meaty-roast potatoes. There will be nine of us for dinner including the aforementioned veggie dd (she is having quorn fillets) dd18's friend (almost a dd for me) who is philipina and loves her pork and dd22's boyf who is moslem (but not very strict - will eat non-halal but not pork). The turkey - well not anyone's favourite but they all whinged when i said I wouldn't bother with it.

thanks guys for all your comments - I will do the beef tomorrow or very very early the next morning and squish the rest in somehow later :D:D

lil-me - I used ot have a slow cooker but it got dropped - i may or may not be getting a new one for xmas - fingers crossed
