Default dates when sold on

I have a loan defaulted 11/12/2022 showing as £0 balance on my credit report. I also have a default 24/05/2023 for the same debt from who bought it.

Should I complain about the new default? Have I effectively got 2 defaults for 1 debt? How long before the original account gets removed, not of my other defaulted account have the original account on my reports.

You should complain because the new buyer should have applied the original default
  • To the credit agency or the DCA?
When will the original account be removed?

Simular question have BARCLAYCARD that was sold to PRA have Halifx and MBNA sold to CABOT yet all show as defaults (Same Date), if debt sold should orignal owner then remove default as they no longer own it, as my account show double defaults?

When debts are sold, occasionally you get two entries for the same account, one from the original creditor, and one from the new owner.

This is perfectly normal, its still just the one default marker, as long as the date of default remains the same for both entries, if its different, you can complain to whoever is reporting it incorrectly, and ask them to backdate it to the actual date of default.

So I complained via my credit report and the company have come back to say that the date they have is correct and I need to show documentation to state otherwise.

Do I now have 2 defaulted accounts on my report for £5000 each? What is my next step, not sure I even have a default notice from the original creditor. Could the original creditor have supplied a wrong default date. I have a 'notice of sums in arrears' letter dated 31/05/2023. Maybe both are wrong if the arrears letter is from the OC and dated after the now account default.

Contact the original creditor and or ask for a subject access request under data protection.

As I said before, complain to whoever is reporting it incorrectly, and ask them to backdate it to the actual date of default.

The CRA are a waste of time as they only report what they are told.

You have to change the information at source.

Lowell and sold. I cancelled my dd in July 2022. I got a notice of suns in arrears in May & Feb 2023 and Aug & Nov 2022, annual statement in March 2023. Multiple missed payments/arrears emails but nothing since May 2023 until I got the letter this month through the post.
