Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.
It's windy and raining here, not quite as cold though.
I've had another bad night, worrying about various situations, none of which I can do anything about - hope you had a better night last night TA.
Snoozer, it's great to hear that Laura is doing so well, and I hope Esben is all right, funny little chap. He is at a nice age.
Topsy, hope your son is feeling a bit better after his op.
Ruby, I was worried about your finger, glad you've seen the Dr and started with anti b's. Also, that poor Rob, his mother is beyond belief.
Gers, hope you enjoyed the birthday lunch.
Izzy, hope the wood burner is now fixed, must have given you a fright !
Hi Bella, hope you and yours are well.
Nothing much going on here today, a bit of ironing, and general housework. The car is going in to the garage this morning about the rattle coming from the rear, I so hope it's nothing expensive. Hey ho, whatever it is it'll have to be fixed.
Thinking of our poorlies , and hope everyone has a good day.
Take care folks.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's dry and calm here for now but the storm is due to hit us overnight. I hate wind and the damage it can cause. SCARLET grr to insomnia. I wish there was an answer to worrying in the wee small hours when all the problems escalate. I had a better night last night after my lack of sleep the night before. I fell into bed about 11 pm and didn't surface until just gone 6 am.
Well despite not knowing anything about the Ailey 2 tour we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the theatre. It seems there is a cult following over here for this genre of dance and the audience was comprised mainly of young women (and a few boys) There were other Golden Oldies there too but we were vastly outnumbered! Nevertheless the outstanding level of dance was enjoyed by young and old alike and there was a standing ovation at the end which went on forever!
I am housebound today and jobs await. Plus it's bed change day so the new duvet will go on the bed. I'll wash the bedding but pegging it outside is a no-no so it will be festooning the upstairs to dry.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. TOPSY it was good to hear the operation went well. SNOOZER well done to Laura for making such a success of her venture. Take care all and be safe and dry xx

Morning all
Wet here and high winds and set in for the day 🙄 I will collect Rob today and take him to work, I can’t wait for a day off tomorrow as I feel really tired this week I think my finger is not helping as it’s so sore.
DD is on a late shift today so just OH and I here for dinner I think I will do some pork chops and roast some new potatoes that need using up.I have put a wash on this morning but it will need to go on the airer, I will have a hoover through after my cup of tea.
Snoozer well done to Laura that’s some achievement xxx
Topsy I’m glad the op went well xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start nmlc x
Sorry I didn't get on yesterday - was working in the office and had many many voice messages from Stepmum. DDad has pneumonia in his good lung (other lung was partially removed due to cancer in 2021). He spent the whole day in the general hospital on oxygen waiting for a bed at a private facility, but nothing available, so was kept in overnight. He's being transferred to an oncology hospital an hour away from home today, so they can drain his lung and then look at what treatment he needs for the bladder tumour which is cancerous. DH and I had booked to see The Great Escaper - good film but not sure the genre was what I needed (older folk in ill health!).
DD has a Teams interview yesterday for a 3 month temp job at a university - she was successful but is waiting on the outcome of the local job as that is permanent and 5 minutes walk away. The uni is next to the O2 and will require train travel and expense.
In OS news(!) DH got all the washing done yesterday and joy of joys did not use the TD. I have taught him well. He didn't have an outside washing line growing up - everything went in the TD - can you imagine?! Dinner tonight is a SW chicken curry with spinach - looking forward to that.
Have told folk at work that I've got a new job - can't come a moment too soon as heard yesterday that the powers that be were flying a certain country's flag on the top of our building on Friday (now removed). We are not the Foreign Office, so don't know who's bright idea that was.
Glad you enjoyed the theatre trip @TravellingAbuela
Hope your poorly finger improves soon @RedRuby1231 x
Glad the log burner is still under warranty @IzzyBee, what a relief!
Great to hear Laura's business is doing so well @snoozer - are they going to stay living with you? Not sure I could have lived with my Mum once married with children - you are a better person than me lol! Esben sounds adorable x
Ooh @WickedLady4 we are in London on Saturday - whereabouts are you playing - I could come and listen!! PM me!!
Sorry if I've missed anyone's news. Have a good day everyone.

Morning.I made it to Glasgow and back fine yesterday. There was a huge tree down just before the Rest (on the way back) but my side of the road was clear. Later on the road was closed for removal of the tree, some local workmen on the way home got out their chainsaws and set too.Lunch was lovely, very sedate as I was driving. I was so lucky to find a parking spot just across the road from the restaurant and even luckier that the phone line for paying the fee wasn't working. 😀
Last night the wind was really blustery, so noisy too. There must have been a power cut overnight as I woke at about 3'ish to find that all the table and bedside lights were on. They're all controlled through my WiFi network so I had to wake up a bit more than wanted to speak to Alexa about turning them off. We've not had any significant rain here, thankfully. My fingers are crossed that everyone stays safe today.11 -
Morning All
Breezy this morning but no rain yet, I think we should miss the worst of the storm, hope so anyway.
I've just done some ironing that was on one of the kitchen chairs and I had forgotten all about it. Ready to put away along with the towels that were nearly dry outside yesterday and have been airing by the fire overnight. Yesterday's visit to the beach didn't happen, DD has a cold and didn't feel like going. Instead I cleaned all the windows inside and the upstairs outside too - probably a waste of time if there's a storm coming! I also made a pan of very tasty soup from some fridge bottom veggies including a very large courgette, I had some growing in my neighbour's garden and she was clearing away and found another 4.
Sorry you've got the worries Scarlet, hope the car repair isn't too expensive.
Good to hear Laura's business is doing so well Snoozer.
Pleased to hear you got an appointment and have ABs Ruby.
Well done to your DD Coxy - how long until you leave?
Glad you enjoyed your outing TA, have to admit I've never heard of them!
Downstairs bathroom to get a good deep clean this morning then I'm heading out to lunch with a friend which I'm looking forward to.
Stay safe, warm and dry, take care. XX12 -
Morning all; dull and dreary here today.
Had a funny old day yesterday. Went to see DD after my stint in the Larder and the Health Visitor had not long arrived so I made myself a cup of tea and sat in the kitchen. An hour later I was still sitting there - gosh she did talk a lot. DD said some of it was useful but there was so much admin to go through. They have finally got an appointment to register the birth, although they have to go to Ampthill rather than Bedford. Bedford Council apologised and offered them an extension to 3 months, but that's no help when you need a birth certificate to get passports etc.
After that I got some food shopping and stopped off to fill up with petrol - except I couldn't get the cover hatch off to get to the petrol cap. It's one where you just push at one end and it hinges out. Gave up trying in the end and drove home to get DH on the job. We tried various things and it opened in the end - now idea how we did it, so that's no help if it happens again. I then had to drive back for petrol and by then the garage was far busier.
I must try to link my phone to my car now, as I had two phone calls whilst driving down the M1 to practice last night and I felt I had to come off at J13 and check in case it was urgent. Luckily it was wasn't but it was unusual, as I rarely get phone calls, it's usually WhatsApp messages.
@Coxy11 I will try to message you my programme, which is T Sq about 1.10pm and 1.50pm then mainly in the Leicester Sq area from 3pm. If I don't manage it please PM me and then I can reply!
Stay dry today folks. Thinking of you Gers and hoping you don't get any more rain.11 -
Morning everyone
It's very wild here and pouring with rain - it started about 6pm last night. DD left me a message early this morning asking me to ring school to say little one would be late - they'd had a very unsettled night due to the wind banging a gate in the wind and little one's alarm going off. Little one was still sleeping and DD was going back to bed too. I'm hoping that they're late enough to give me a lift down to work too.
I've got some mince defrosted to make bolognaise so I'd better get that started or it won't have time to cook before I leave. Hope everyone has a good day today - stay safe if you have to go out x9 -
Morning everyone it’s poured down with high winds all night but it’s dry now and a lot milder they came and had a look at the log burner yesterday it is safe to use but they have ordered the part it needs will fit it next week. Scarlet I hope you manage to sleep a bit better it’s hard to function properly when you are awake half the night I’m back in early from my cleaning job as I went earlier they are away so I could go anytime but the door I have the key for they had forgotten to take the bolt out so I couldn’t get in what a waste of a morning it’s a big hill I walk up to get to it as well I tell you I wish this week was over so I have come back and stripped my beds I am going to take them into work to wash and dry later as it’s a bit quieter as we have got the bulk of the work done. Gers I’m pleased you had a safe journey Nmlc hope you manage to get through your list don’t work to hard snoozer poor Esben I hope he gets an appointment soon glad you enjoyed the theatre TA glad you got into the doctors Ruby Topsy pleased the op went well Coxy I will keep everything crossed that DD gets the local job .
