Depends how busy your solicitor is or whether there is anything unpredictable in the mortgage conditions. In theory they could already have done everything and no delay necessary at all, but the tendency is only to move into action when the mortgage offer arrives.

Remember, in England, you can only exchange contracts on a non-newbuild when you have an agreed completion date.

Have searches been applied for? How are enquiries going? How long since you had your offer accepted?
you really aren’t giving us anything to work on - could be next week, next month, next year.
  • Theoretically the next day if everything is in order. We exchanged and completed 3 days after our offer came through.

Doesnt really matter when the seller wants to exchange it wont happen until the solicitor us satisfied, best bet is to ask the solicitor where there at in the process. if they still have enquiries etc. outstanding then its unlikely if they had everything else sorted and the mortgage offer was the last thing they were waiting on then perfectly feasible
