Ok so 95 is calculated at final salary x number of years x 1/80, are you suggesting that the Final salry is the FTE, and her number of years is pro rata'd down in effect?

yes the 95 is calculated literally as a number of days which is then divided by 29,200 (80*365) or something figure like that - the result is then applied to the final salarygt568 said:Ok so 95 is calculated at final salary x number of years x 1/80, are you suggesting that the Final salry is the FTE, and her number of years is pro rata'd down in effect?
so say you worked 5,000 days : 5000/ 29200 = 0.171
Salary say 45K -
pension equals 45 * 0.171 = 77050 -
Yes - to put it another way - your wife won’t get some huge benefit just from going full time for one year before stopping - she will just get the benefit of the extra days worked for that one year. The fact whether she is part time at the actual date of retirement doesn’t impact what her “salary” is considered to be at leaving date as it’s up rated to the full amount for full time. Then as others have explained, it’s adjusted for the number of actual full days that were worked in the whole career.gt568 said:Ok so 95 is calculated at final salary x number of years x 1/80, are you suggesting that the Final salry is the FTE, and her number of years is pro rata'd down in effect?0 -

She won’t have given she started in 2003. Moreover I’d be very surprised if anyone had special status (e.g. Mental Health Officer Status) and were not aware of it.Pat38493 said:
One other small point - all this assumes that your wife doesn’t have any special conditions under the ‘95 scheme like officer status. If that was the case it becomes even more complicated.gt568 said:Understood thanks0
