Hi all ex alcoholic now ready to get debt free, without going bust!!

OK, I have been a drunk for the last ten years and it ruined my life for those ten years. In those ten years, I also created debt currently from what I have found it's around £10k. I've spoken to debt councillors ie Cab on the phone and I would like to resolve all of this myself or at least pass it over to another if I see it pushing me back to that bottle. One thing I am sure of I will not be bullied or pestered into paying what I cannot afford.
I have found some letters some are old one from Lowell which has 7debts one of which is a cj from 4 years ago. I have also found a number of other debts that were ten years old no CJ, cc debts and I assume these are statute-barred I have not added the statute-barred to my overall debt as the cab said they can ask but they cannot get it especially if you inform you have no intention of paying the barred debt.
Now the other debts are NOT statute barred however I lack any paperwork as such advice I have been given is to contact Lowell and ask them to prove all the debts and send me all the relevant paperwork.
After I receive the proof of debts and paperwork my aim is to attempt to get reduced settlement figures, I am under no illusion they will accept, however, I still intend to ask. I would also ensure i receive written notification that should a reduced offer be accepted the rest of the debt is wiped off and NOT sold on to a third party NO such letter NO early settlement figures.
No, I am not in a position to pay anything off but my partner who is working with me says she will pay reduced settlement figures if they are attractive enough, however, if they refuse then payments based on affordable payments will be made based on the level of each debt. If that is not accepted then token £1 payments and if it goes to court affordable payment offers are made.
As to my income, I am in receipt of a small pension from a previous employer and have just started my own new business as such income from the latter will not be possible for at least 12 m from now! my pension is minimal and goes towards the rent which is secure as its rural social housing . NO rent arrears/council tax arrears . If i am planning this wrong can you please say soif it looks good please say so many thanks, Fabian.

    Hi

I'm pleased to see that CA gave good advice

Your plan looks good. Only one other thing...

If it is a Consumer Credit Act debt (loan, credit card, catalogue) then you would hope the 'proof' that they sent you would include a copy of the original agreement. If it doesn't then they have probably not got it.

You can then do a formal s77-79 request and if they don't send it, the debt stays unenforceable until they do.
