Partially settled - where to find this on your credit file

Hello people,

I've been paying my debts for over 10 years. Due to my mental health I've reached an agreement with all my creditors and all my debts have been partially settled. It's been one hell of a long road.

I requested all of my free credit reports from Experian, Equifax and Trans Union. On each individual report I could see no mention of any settlement. Some of the debts are not even on any of the credit reports ??

Do I need to pay for the full credit reports from each of the agencies to find this information ??

Please can anyone help me to locate how I find what each creditor has submitted to each of the credit agencies. I appreciate any help that anyone can provide. Many thanks in advance.

  • 1.  No need to pay for the full reports - the free reports will have the information you require.
2.. It may take some significant time for these reports to update.
    3.  Not all info appears on all 3 agencies, however if you access all 3, you should see the full picture.

Any account that was defaulted more than 6 years ago will not appear at all.

For the ones that do appear, that you thought you had settled, what are they showing?

I find the statutory (free) reports easiest to read
  • Annoyingly I can not find any of my debts on my credit files. Its show credit for things like my phone contract, my bank account etc but on none of my 3 different statutory credit reports do any of them mention my debts.

Is this because they are quite old then? ie, the default started 6-10 eyars ago ?

Information about defaulted accounts is only recorded for 6 years, after which the whole entry is deleted forever.

Events that occur once an entry is deleted are not recorded, I wouldn`t worry about it to be honest, you have the results you wanted, job done.
