I have managed to get fennel bulbs (non-organic,) for 1.15 each from Watts Farms and organic for 3.25 each from Milk & More (included in the Buy 3 Get Cheapest Free veg deal to 05/11/23).
Non-organic fennel is £5 each or per kilo at Sainsbury's and 1.25 for 250g ( £5 per kilo) at Tesco. Non-organic fennel is £5 per kilo at Waitrose. Morrisons has non-organic.fennel 250g for 1.25 (£5 per kilo). Just discovered that non-organic fennel bulbs are 80p each at ASDA !
Seems like the prices are generally going up though. Any ideas why ?.

I suppose the producers and retailers are having to pay more for everything, just as we all are. Labour costs have gone up, as have heating, lighting and transport - in fact pretty much everything; and these costs are passed on to the consumer, in whole or in part. Maybe too, there was a poor harvest this year, which would affect the price.

It could also be that it's out of season - I know we're used to full availability year round, but the stuff in season tends to be cheaper/on offer more often.1
