is it possible for a couple to move of a dmp where eg I expect to land a new job very soon with much higher wages and hours  which  would equal our current joint wages which are being used in a dmp.
then my wife gives up her work to (become a housewife )and not a job seeker and thus on a zero income. and she does a dro.
where my new income pays all expenses for both of us.
or would the dro regulator say to wife  you earn nothing hence you are hugely negative per month and I won't approve it.
as I noticed in a joint dmp it's joint total income Vs total joint expenses gives the total available per month for creditors.
but a dro is individual basis
I had a phone call with CAB last month about both of us cutting hours at work and could we get a DRO.
the advisor said the regulator would expect us to top up our wages with UC which would take us above the £75 spare a month each.
but what about the new scenario I have posted?
plus how would my wife show no income proof as the CAB guy previously said send me 2 months of payslips or benefits or both within so many days of application.

  • I thought you were advised to do a self managed DMP.

yes but we asked previously about reducing hours and considering a dro.
but want to know can my wife do individual dro when I land a better job very soon as she will go bk to being a housewife( due to my higher wages) where she puts down zero for all expenses eg haircuts leisure food gas rent cos I will be paying for it all.
and what about this from cab guy saying all benefits must be applied for in a dro application.
wife would be housewife and not a job seeker and thus not a UC claimer

Aren’t there debts in both your names?
I have to say you do seem to be flip-flopping between attempting all sorts of different solutions going on your previous threads.

No, but there are still  debts in your name so what’s the plan for those?

I pay my debts by myself with my new higher wages in my own DMP .repayments be the same as total income into household would be roughly the same with wife going bk to housewife.and also  household expenses would remain the same.

I don’t know the answer for that but I would speculate that the insolvency service would raise an eyebrow at someone giving up work and claiming they have no expenses at all in order to get their debt written off. It seems to me too obvious a way to game the system for anyone to go for it. I may be wrong, it’s just a guess on my part.

If your wife stops working she would qualify for Jobseeker’s Allowance (non means tested)  which has the presumption that she will be actively looking for work.

she wouldn't be a job seeker.but housewife. the cab guy said it's fine to cut hours in work when I spoke before but he said our hours cut would not be enough to live on .hence he said  UC be expected to get the housing element. which would tie us into looking for full-time work and cause us to be above the £75 excess and prob bk to full-time hours again. thus ending the DRO at some point in the 12 months if not instantly cos of the £75 limit
but my new wages would cover all expenses and no need for any UC claim at all
