Boots Gift Card combine with Advantage Card Points?

Does anyone know if I can use a Boots Gift Voucher in conjunction with paying with my points?
When using your Advantage Card points to pay for something, you must have enough points to cover the complete cost...
The item I want is £220
I have £163 worth of advantage card points... but I'm wondering, if I buy a Boots £50 gift card, then apply that at check out to bring the basket cost down to £160.... can I then pay with my points?

Worth noting that 220 minus 50 is 170, not 160....2
