Martin Lewis asked his X (formerly Twitter) followers:

"What’s the most financially valuable freebie you’ve ever got – when, where, how and why?"

Answers include a £600 iMac, £150 bottle of perfume and a vacuum cleaner. Can we do better here?

My DH used to work for a car dealership and was regularly given the cars that were traded in, purely because they were old and the dealership didn't want to deal with them. He made quite a bit on those. Can't put a figure on it as I can't remember!

During the pandemic I drove my Mercedes over a pothole which damaged my front wheel sensors (these controlled anti lock brakes, traction control, cruise control & low pressure warnings). The repair bill was getting on for a  thousand pounds. Mercedes kindly picked up the bill for repairs, so it cost me nothing.

the Olio app.    not a week goes by I dont get free salad, bread, cake, veggies etc.  sometimes I get meat and fish as well.    I cant put a figure on it as its ongoing but certainly saves money on my shopping bill
