Work Coach Job role…

Wondering what life is like as a work coach? Rewarding? Challenging? Prospects?
I’m weighing up a role with the DWP as a job coach and have to decide fairly quick, just wondered if any work coaches or ex work coaches could tell me what life is like and would they recommend the job role? Thanks

In my experience of HAVING work coaches, you just have to repeatedly state the obvious and give generic advice. I reckon if you are a dispassionate person who won't get invested in their clients it can be a pretty good gig.

Fairly target driven, I would imagine. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
Agree with the others, there will be a lot of repetition, a lot of trying to give advice to people who simply aren't interested but the occasional success where you do manage to help someone into gainful employment who are appreciative of your help. I fear they would be in the minority though.RedfordML said:Wondering what life is like as a work coach? Rewarding? Challenging? I’m on the opposite side of the fence. When I was made redundant, I was very keen to get back into work and my job coach was as much use as a chocolate teapot. My claimant commitment was just a tick box exercise, and I was being pushed towards ridiculous jobs - a care home manager being directed towards (non care related) cloud-based consultancy for example. My fairly prompt re-employment has nothing to do with the DWP, the job centre, or my jobs coach. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I had a similar experience, after uni, DWP coaches tried to get me into jobs requiring a driving licence (which I did not have at the time), one requiring a particular foreign language fluency (which I don't/didn't speak) and one that required me to be able to potentially lift a weight, which would be injurious...elsien said:I’m on the opposite side of the fence. I found employment myself without input..0
