It is easy to check your NI record to see if you were awarded credits for years after 1978 where you were receiving child benefit.Pinn10 said:I contacted HMRC before I retired and paid for my missing years. Can I assume they calculated it correctly or should I be checking with them? If I shouldn't have paid will I get my lump sum back (with interest perhaps)?

Have others struggled to get a government gateway ID so that they can check their NI record online. Doesn't seem to be possible without a passport or driving licence. What percentage of retirees still have these.0
