My quiet day yesterday became enforced. A month of rain fell in my area, flooded huge parts and caused a number of enormous landslips which has closed off many many roads. Train tracks are also under water in some places, at least one station near Camelot has water up to the level of the platforms. The way out of where I live is blocked in both directions (north and south). Town is closed off by flooding and the village the other way has the same. And that's getting off lightly! It's been the worst day for rain ever seen. The upside is that the winds were calm so the rain hasn't been driven through stonework so no leaks. I'm safe and warm, large numbers of others have slept on coaches or their cars or had to find emergency accommodation. It's still not possible to get out of Argyll by any route except sea but then the routes to our ferries are also blocked. Not a good day.Today there's another amber warning though I think it's for further north. I pity the poor emergency and road / council workers who are out there clearing up and trying to open up roads. I expect it'll be at least Monday by the time some roads are sorted.I'll spend my day reading, watching a bit of TV and thanking my lucky stars. I hope that everyone is doing well.Happy Sunday to all.10

Morning All
Yes Gers, we have to be thankful for being safe, warm and dry. The floods have been all around here with road closures and rail cancellations, thank goodness I live up a hill! The rain eased off later in the afternoon but is still going so can't see it getting any better today. Apparently the road the school is on was under water so we'll see tomorrow how bad it was.
I went for a pool swim yesterday and called at Aldi on the way home for supplies, didn't venture out at all after but had a good day catching up on missed TV, reading and a fair bit of dozing! I would imagine today will be pretty much the same.
Hope you had a good day out Izzy.
Feel better soon Coxy.
The WM has just finished with the bedding in so will go and drape that around the house. Take care. XX

Morning folks. I'm glad you are both safe GERS and CAMELOT. What a day you had! I saw a clip of the Rest on the news with all the landslips. There's an awful lot of work to do now.
By comparison we had a lovely day. After my flu jab I caught the bus to Skipton and had a wander up and down the market and in a couple of cs. Then, as I was just in time to catch it, I decided to go on the scenic route bus to Ilkley. I bought a few bits in the M & S food hall before catching the bus back home.. A relative I haven't seen for a while was on the bus so we had a good old natter on the way back. This morning we have mist but it's supposed to lift and then sunny spells are forecast.
I had a update on the Starlight Hike this morning. DD said the atmosphere was wonderful with people cheering them all on and handing out free drinks, food and donations all the way. Over 900 people on the hike so a very big group!! The girls absolutely loved it and are already saying they want to do it again next year! DD says it wasn't so much as the distance that was hard work but all the hills involved and she is nursing stiff legs this morning.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies or poorly relatives. Take care all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x I'm glad you are safe - what atrocious weather. Can't quite believe it was so nice here and due to be good for a few more days yet.
We very much enjoyed the theatre - Jamie musical - and were all reduced to tears over one song. Had a family group hug afterwards! We couldn't watch the England rugby game on catch up as it wasn't available, so enjoyed the Ireland Scotland game live. Felt bad for Scotland until they got going in the 2nd half. My footie team is also top of the table, whoohoo.
Today I'm off for the food shop at Aldi, then meeting DSis, BIL and Mum at a local garden centre which is outside of the ULEZ area as their car is not compliant. We will have lunch there. Meeting friends this evening for a curry takeaway, possibly at our house, so need to tidy up too!
Glad the Starlight Hike was enjoyable @TravellingAbuela - sounds like a lovely atmosphere for an amazing cause x
Have a good day all,

Morning everyone Camelot and Gers stay safe and dry I’ve seen some of the flooding on the news we had a lovely day yesterday not the heatwave they promised but it was dry and mild but it’s raining here today not forecast it’s even saying now it’s dry it isn’t I had a lovely day in Harrogate I got everything I wanted and a bit more and a couple of bargains it’s a lovely place some very expensive shops but some everyday ones as well but I had a shock at how much prices are going up some of the little gifts I bought that they like have gone up 2 and 3 pounds and I had a good chat with people on the bus and apparently there’s a trip there in April and quite a few of them go and take in the gardens have there lunch and a bit of shopping and I’ve been invited along by a few of them so you can’t say no really the lady who sat next to me was on her own and she knew Harrogate well as her and her husband used to go and regularly but she lost him a year ago and it was her first time going anywhere without him and she had a few tears and said she was in the process of cancelling it a few times but we had a good chat and I bumped into her later and we had a coffee in m&s cafe which was very busy and we shared a table with another lady who was from Leeds and told us her life story and gave us a few laughs and when she got of the bus on the town before me she thanked me and said she had really enjoyed her day now she had made the first step and she would see me in April as you can tell I will talk to anybody and you can’t shut me up my sons always say when I tell them what I’ve been up to do you never think there’s to many of them it’s not them mam it’s you they will be going home and saying what a crank I met today but I don’t care so that’s sorted . Right I must get cracking I have apple crumbles to make I’ve been given two big bags of apples so they will be put to good use . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Morning everyone
I'm envious of everyone who had good weather yesterday - we had pouring rain all day and it's still raining, though perhaps not as heavily. Little one stayed on Friday night so we got the bus into town and went to the library - she was very excited cos she had to wear her wellies and take her umbrella. Her umbrella is yellow with white flowers and when it rains the flowers turn purple and pink - fascinates us both!
One of her friends from her class came in with her mum and sister and they were so happy to see each other.
Then we went to the cafe which is almost next door and had lunch before getting the bus back home. We read all the library books and had a lovely cuddle on the sofa, then she played with playdoh while I got my ironing done.
Had a good chat to eldest DD in Germany later too. This morning I'll go down to sit with dad while mam goes to church and then me, DD and little one are having lunch there.
Coxy - eldest DD and I went to see the Jamie musical in London a few years ago and we loved it.
Better get dressed - hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all
Dry and bright here and quite warm, Gers and Camelot I can’t believe the weather you are having stay safe and dry xx
i have stripped the beds this morning and washed the bedding it’s now on the line and should dry well today, I have another load in the wm which will be hung out shortly.
DD left for work at 7 this morning and is working till 10 tonight 😳 poor thing will be shattered, someone phoned in sick so they are all having to cover their shifts.
We are going to take the dogs out for a five mile walk today I feel better already just having a walk each day, yesterday I did three miles it will be more difficult on a workday but I will try and get a walk in. The walk today takes us past the pub 👀 would be rude not to pop in for a drink I think.
Not sure about dinner tonight might be something quick like scampi and chips.
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning all Gers and Camelot I can't believe the difference in the weather between us down south and you both at the top of the country I am glad you are both safe and dry . We had friends over for dinner last night and managed to sit outside. DH is still doing the hot tub house ready for its installation in a couple of weeks but he is not feeling great headaches and exhausted as well as muscle aches not sure what's going on there thankfully we are away the next 2 weekends we are off to stay in Cardiff Bay next Fri-Sun as i need to do my family graves i promised my mum i would they are further on but Cardiff is a nice place to stay now and on the Sunday we will go to my favourite place St Fagans https://museum.wales/stfagans/ it has changed so much since i first started going there over 40 years ago i will be interested to see what has appeared since i last visited.
Right enough rambling from me have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe warm and dry xxSlava Ukraini9 -
@bellabella - St. Fagan's is my favorite place to visit too. I especially love the row of houses where you see the changes over the years. I love the 1950's kitchen the best, if it is still there. I used to try and arrange my trips so I could get there, so I was able to make it about ten times.4
