CAPQUEST Letter

Hello, I’ve received a letter from CAPQUEST telling me I owe a fairly large sum of money on behalf of HBOS (I don’t even know what that stands for). I have no debt to my name and I’m worried that someone is using my name (fraud). Who do I contact to investigate my name being used and stopping unnecessary debt collection letters?
I haven’t contacted CAPQUEST to query this letter because reading through historic posts in this forum people are advising not too as it could be a ‘fishing process’ and they are aggressive when you do call them. 100% confident that I don’t owe the amount of money they are claiming I do. Do I ignore this letter and take no action?
thanks in advance.

You've posted in the IVA/DRO section. Have you ever had either and was a Halifax debt included?1

Thank you - I had a Halifax loan when I was 19ish I’m now 43 so that’s a long time ago! Plus It was repaid in full.Apologies, I’m brand new to this forum and still figuring out the correct areas. I’ll locate the right section and repost…Thank you both.0

It's ok. Someone will move it for you.
As they have written and made an allegation, it is appropriate to respond in writing. There is a prove-it letter in the stickies on the debt-free wannabe forum.
There is nothing to worry about here. This will be a mis-trace. You share some details with the debtor and you can work out the history of it when they respond to your letter
