consumer rights

can anyone offer some advice regarding
consumer rights.

a friend of mine purchased a PC paying £800
in cash. the computer was due to be delivered
2 weeks ago and still hasnt.

each time she visits the shop, she is told they
will find out and call and they never do. there
are now saying they are not sure when it will be
delivered.

this is unacceptable.

she also feels they gave her a hard sell on anti
virus software in the store as it cost her £50
there and then and they were really pushing it.

what are her consumer rights?

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Does her receipt / order form make any mention of the timescales for delivery?

If so and they have gone beyond it, then it is breach of contract and she can demand her money back.

If not, then she needs to formally write them a letter specifying a date for delivery or refund of her cash.

It may be worth her getting some advice from trading standards - they are usually very helpful with things like this.

One thought though. Reading your post it occurs to me that this company are stalling on purpose. They aren't close to going bust are they? Hopefully the PC was bought with a credit card and her money will be safe if that happens.

As to paying over the odds for the anti-virus software... Sorry - if she was happy to accept the price when she ordered, then she has no legal comeback.
