Primark - Return items without reciept

Primark are offering exchanges for products without a reciept which they don't usually do. (After Christmas only for a short period of time).
I tried to take something back for an exchange yesterday without a reciept not knowing they don't allow it and the lady who served me was very nice. She'd recommended I saved the items unused until after Christmas, and bring them back for an exchange as 'unwanted gifts without reciept'.
Primark is a bargain in itself - but if you have stuff you know you won't wear, might aswel exchange them for something useful - plus after-Christmas sales might get you a better bargain!
Stores may have different periods where you can do this so it's best you pop in and ask them! As far as I know, the stores near me allow it until mid-January!
