Off Grid Mortgage

Hi, We have built our own self sustainable home which runs on Solar Power (owned by us, not leased) and we are not connected to the National Grid, as we live in a rural area and the Grid wanted in excess of £100k to connect us. Does anyone know of any mortgage companies who will lend against an off grid property.... so far our property has been given a NIL value simply because we are not connected to the Grid.

Ecology maybe?
There are also a couple of lenders who lend based on the asset value, although I am not sure if they do that in the residential world nor what the rates would look like as it is not something I have ever had to research.
I think you might struggle though as most people want/expect to be connected to the grid. So in terms of resale value and demand there is probably a limited market.

Maybe try one of the self-build specialists? You may find the uncertainty around resale reflected in the LTV though...0

Have you tried the Ecology Building Society? They might also be able to offer some advice for your situation given their connections.0
