If our partner refuses to engage that's fine. She won't be harassed

Not sure about the gym membership. If you were receiving a disability benefit you could make a case but I suspect the OR won't like £40 per month on leisure

Another question - I'm just about to renew my gym membership (£40) a month. I consider it essential for mental health/keeping me on the straight and narrow. Will the OR see it the same way?

IF you can speak to GP etc for medical proof about gym membership may be allowed.....no proof and the receiver wont alow even mentioning mental health etc...have to agree with fatbelly

  • Will the OR want receipts/bank statement proof of every outgoing that goes on to the list? EG - if I say I'm spending £35 a month on my mobile contract - will that be checked?

They can check what they want but in practice not much checking will go on provided your figures are reasonable
  • I had to supply them with 2 years bank statements and I years credit card statements

I had to provide 3 years bank statements and 2 years credit card statements.

Upon interview I supplied the documents, had a call back a week or so later asking about certain purchases/ spending.

Best advise... Be honest.. it's a clean break. 👍

  • I had to supply 5yrs of statements....missing ones the OR can get easily....

if indeed your mobile is £35 a month the receiver MAY suggest moving to a cheaper supplier (they did with me)

as everyone says be honest and open and 12mnths of bankruptcy will fly by

You say 12 months, but its the 3 years of the OR taking my surplus income I'm worried about. On paper I probably have around £1000 "left over" each month, though that's not actually the case - it all seems to go whether that's days out with the kids, birthday presents and whatnot.

Question for everyone: if I were to move out and rent a new place on my own, max out the "expenditure" side of things a bit by paying, say, £900 rent for my own place rather than half of a "600" mortgage payment as I am at the moment, would that be seen as Fraudulent by the OR?

They're not going to stop you moving out. Do what you need to do.
