Thanks for the input, we do "need" a certain amount, which as of yet isn't cast in stone given we are returning from living in Spain. Some of the money is needed to top up the sale funds from our Spanish home to buy something in the UK. The net proceeds will likely find their way into ISA's wrappers for each of us and the balance held as cash.
We are over for a month from December to Jan to have a look around at properties and enjoy Christmas with family.
The main risk that needs mitigating is: a sudden fall in value breaks our plan.0
