Paternity Pay

Employer (a county council) has taken my paternity pay this month (child is 15 months old!). Just wondering whether this is OK? I nlunderstand it needed to he paid but the fact that its been this long is worrying. Is there a time limit on when they could take it? Or is it just bad practice on their part?

What do you mean by "taken"? That they've recovered a previous overpayment?0

So there has been a justified deduction from your pay?Owing to you having taken more than 2 weeks leave perhaps - you've not given much detail. And this deduction should have been taken over a year ago (again I'm guessing really).I think the bottom line is that you owe itHow much is this deduction relative to your pay? If it is a large amount it would be good practice to take it over several pay packets, particularly as they have taken so long to make the correction. Not doubting the fact that it is owed. But the correct procedure according to policy is for it to come from my next pay packet. Not a year later0

When it didn't come from your next pay packet a year ago did you highlight it to your employer or hope you'd get away without paying it back?grantv3 said:Not doubting the fact that it is owed. But the correct procedure according to policy is for it to come from my next pay packet. Not a year later0
