What's British Gas's calorific value for quarterly billing?
I can usually get publicised info online easily but can't seem to find it for price changes July 2023. I'm based West of Scotland. Does anyone know what the calorific value, standing charge and unit rate is for quarterly bills? An energy article said it was 39.3 but no date on article. My bill says it's higher. Just wondering if it is meant to be 39.3.

There is no region called "West Scotland", you will either be in the North or the South.
Is it possible you are on a dual rate tarriff such as Economy 7? If so those rates dont apply, you will have two rates, one being cheaper than the other, which average out to those rates based on a formula of 58/42 split usage.

I found the calorific value of gas very interesting when BG took over from Peoples Energy. For a long time with PE the calorific value had been between 39.2 & 39.5. Interestingly as soon as BG took over it went up to 39.8 to 40.1. Overnight. So which one of them was getting it wrong & if it was PE would it have saved them?

We do like a good conspiracy on this forum. Suppliers got sanctioned for using fixed calorific values.1 -
No conspiracy here. Just wondering why PE in all sept were charging 39.4 & in Oct BG were charging 40.0. Just seemed a bit of an extreme change compared with other changes.
