A brand new chapter

Hi
On Friday I’m hoping to complete on my forever home. Not long out of a 20 year marriage & this is the first home I have ever purchased/lived in by myself. The fact that I was able to choose it myself and it ticked all my boxes was absolutely fantastic.

Im 51 & hoping to pay off my 65K mortgage by the time I’m 60. I may be able to draw a small chunk of pension at 55 to help me with this. I want to buy some kind of chart where the bricks on a house represent an amount of money & I colour a brick in every time I overpay on my mortgage. I also want to share with you & read about ways you are saving money, allowing you to over pay your mortgage. I’m hoping this will give me extra inspiration. Hope a few can join me 😊

BP xx

Good luck in your new home!!

How about using Lego bricks to create a 2D (or 3D if feeling creative) house that you can design with the right amount of bricks

Each brick can represent a sum of money off the mortgage

  • Finally managed to pay my 1st 2.5 bricks off due to having plenty of things that needed buying/doing in the house up to now.

However I’ve hopefully done all the big spending so now I just need to get frugal so that I can make the biggest overpayments I can each month
