End of IPA issues

I was given an IPA at the beginning of my bankruptcy. Over the 3 years it's gone up and down with change in income/bills etc. for the last year after our rent went up we've paid nothing and Advantis ring every so often to check for any change of circumstances.
3 years since the start of the IPA were up last month and I've heard nothing so contacted Advantis. They've just said that I owe 2.5k!!!! He said that at the beginning of the IPA an amount was set to be paid back and even though they deemed I didn't have the disposable income to pay the IPA after my rent went up, it still needs paying? He then said he can't do anything with the IPA as it's closed but if I don't pay then they'll persue it and I can be taken to court!
As you can imagine after over 3 years of getting myself sorted etc this has come as a massive shock. This isn't how an IPA works is it? Or have I completely misunderstood?!
Any insight would be so helpful Thankyou
