hi i mistakenly bought a cheap £100 mattress a couple of years ago and its not very supportive, it sinks in the middle and the springs are noticable.
instead of spending £200+ on a better mattress can i buy a topper to firm it up? i just want a more firmer supportive feel. i have £75 max to spend at argos but would rather spend a bit less. any recomendations please let me know.

If it sinks in the middle, it will still sink in the middle with a topper.

Well I’m only talking from my friend who bought a cheap mattress that sunk and she bought a really expensive 7cm topper from Soak & Sleep £160 at the time, but it moulded to the mattress so she still had the dunk. I don’t think you will find anything hard enough to lay over the sag without sagging into it if that makes sense

Buy cheap buy twice is the old adage.  What is the mattress base construction?  better support from below the mattress may help? or not?

£200 is still very cheap (depending on size of mattress).

Toppers are 'comfort layers' and are not designed for support.

    Absolutely agree.
Definitely won’t find a topper to solve the sinking and give firm support.
I also agree that the £100 mattress is extremely cheap as is a £200 replacement. Of course not everyone can afford more but a mattress is a 10+ year investment and it’s definitely buy cheap, pay twice or 3 times more.

its a sprung mattress but not pocket sprung i dont think. ive already put some sections of solid wood under as a base, on top of the slats which definitely helped a little.
