I entered full retirement in June this year after several years of semi-retirement that included part time working. So this financial year I paid NI for just 3 months. This is the last financial year I need to pay NI (Year 47) as I can claim my state pension from next July. It is 47 years for me as I was contracted out for most of my career.
So I applied to pay whatever remaining would be owing for this year by a monthly DD that I hoped would start around August. I sent the forms off at the beginning of August and have heard nothing back at all. No DD has yet been set up from my current account.

On the forms it said allow for 21 days. It is now about 8 weeks.
I would like to check that the forms arrived or that I have not made an error in my application but I am not sure who contact. Is anyone able to provide a contact email or telephone number please?
I am keen to sort this out as I want the year to show as complete by next April when I am due to apply for my state pension in July.

Update. This morning I have managed to check if my form has been received using my government gateway account. It is showing as received on 11/08/2023 so that's ok. I think I just need to give it a bit more time to be set up.
Thanks for your help.1 -
Another update. Through Government Gateway I managed to check progress of my DD application. To my surprise they say they hope to respond by next April! Considering I wanted DD to start last August I think I may need to contact them ! I really wanted my final year of NI contributions sorted by next April so I can apply for my state pension to start in July 2024 with no complications.0

Complain to your MP, write to the financial pages of the press. About time the skiving working from home civil servants got back to the office and started shifting this great pile of paperwork that has built up over the past 3 years.

I have now received a response regarding my application. As I was employed for part of the current tax year they cannot set up the direct debit for anything I may be owing until the financial year ends in April. I need to contact them after April to pay any NI needed to make it a full year. Tye 2023/2024 year is the final one I need to be full to ensure a full state pension bar a few pence. So for me a total of 47 years, owing to being contracted out for most of my working life.0
