Does solar PV increase the value of a house?

There was a solar hot water system on our house when we bought it, but it was absolutely knackered. It cost us £500 to remove it, which strangely enough when going through some of the old paperwork left by the vendors, was the cost to install it in the very distant past.

Having spent a goodly sum installing solar, we have no intention to move, which I suspect is the case for a lot of people who install it, otherwise it can be hard to make the sums add up, particularly short term.  Unless there was a good FIT tariff included, I'd be unlikely to pay a lot more for a house which had older panels on it if it looked like I would need to replace them in my time in the property.

Things will change in the future as solar becomes more common and more people grow to understand it. That would have happened quicker if Sunak hadn't pushed the climate agenda back.
