Is it okay to lend money to a family member for a few weeks whilst applying for a mortgage?

Hi,

A family member of mine has asked to borrow £200 for a few weeks until they get paid at the end of the month. I have often borrowed them money, and they always pay it back. but I have read how picky some lenders can be, I do not really want to leave a family member short though.

I don't think £200 will need to be declared if given in cash, there will be no paper trail, it's hardly the price of a meal out for 4 nowadays.

The only thing I've seen, is be careful what put as the ref for the payment.
They can see those, so if you put something silly like 'for the drugs', this may raise questions.
