stuck in a no credit trap

i have a problem

i have no credit history
i was born in egypt and when my mum returned here she had misplaced my brith certificate
while i dont want to have a debate on y it means that i had no birth certificate so no bank account no passport and no license so in effect no form of id.
once i was 21 i contacted relevant authorities and managed to get my brith certificate so i applied for halifax cash card account which didnt suprise me seeing as i didnt exist in credit world b4 opeing this account.
now i want a better account so im getting on electoral role. also i applied for a capital one rebuilder card and got declined. so what other ways can i build my rating i was thinking maybe a catalogue order small things but do they count as well
also i dont work i stay home and look after two kids and study open university and my hubby works to support us altho i have worked in the past and have lived here 25 years my mum is irish but has been nationalised
thanks in advance for ure advice
and merry christmas
xxx

Not having any income of your own is not going to help. As it's your husbands money that will be paying your credit card, have you tried becoming a second card holder on his card?
  • I am afraid if you are not earning then nobody will give you credit as, well how do they know you will pay anything back. So you truly are in cache 22 I'm afraid until you look at getting a job.

Yes, you have an income in your own name. The OP is supported by her husband and (apparently) she has no other income apart from what her husband gives her.

  • ok viewed by credit report s and ther e is an outstanding missed payment with virgin (but really ntl) as its over a year ago i have called them today and they said they have no outstanding monies on the system
they advise me to write to their customer care to have the default removed
so an unfair default :( wat are my chances of getting it taken off as iwas aware they were paid up.
