Well today I over paid another £250 on the Morgan. Total of £352 interest saved over the full term. I know it may sound silly to mention the amount saved but that’s a reality and it could be higher when I come off my fixed rate.No over time this weekend, just a games night planned for tonight and I get my laser eye consultation on Saturday and a Sunday roast out on Sunday. Personally I wanted to work Sunday but my partner didn’t want me too. I know she looks out for me but I am willing to get the money in and get things paid for and look at the bigger picture and direction we need to head in.Next week will be a smaller over payment as all my bills will be coming out.I hope everyone has a good weekend but will update on my laser eye surgery details maybe on Monday
 take care all1

Well a very interesting appointment for my laser eye surgery consultation, i can’t have it done until I am 36 and it will cost 8k. I have to be honest here and say yes I could save for it but unless my financial position changes I can’t really see me justifying such a large expenditure. On the flip side I sign my new contract for a permanent position where I work which is a big positive, i currently have 2.5k in holiday after tax that will be paid to me.
me and my partner had a lovely Sunday roast out and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream from the store at home, they are currently asleep including my daughter. A little me time now and play some games I think.
will update payments on Friday as I was naughty yesterday and bought some silver trinkets and coins.Take care

Congratulations on getting the job, will you get a payrise with it?1

            @Debsnewbudget
I will get a extra bonus each year which is basically a incentive to attend work and that’s paid every December it’s not a lot much I wouldn’t say no to £300 approx.
the real perks are sick leave, I have never in 3 years taken a sick day but I am glad I will have some to fall back on in the unlikely event I need to take them.
opens up the door way for a career there, my boss want me to progress and so do I, so more money comes with a change in position pretty quickly as I continue to learn aspects of the job. The first step upwards is only I think a extra £1 a hour but the next position is more and thats what I am aiming for in the short term. There is also a performance bonus which is paid to everyone so that’s another £900 in July some time.
I think for me I am just glad I feel I am getting somewhere now
thanks for commenting and reading too.2

thanks @beanielou.I have made another £84 over payment today which came from over saving for my insurance which I have had the slightest of problems with when paying online so I was asked to call up and they wanted a extra £20 for the privilege so I hung up on them and sent them a email explaining the situation.
the reply came today saying to call up again as they will wavier the extra £20 charge for phoning. I shopped around a lot trying to find the cheapest car insurance and that was £437.
I don’t know if I will make any more over payments this month but I am not settling on the total right now but it stands at £1584.When I get my holiday money I am looking forward to paying over £1000 because they will have to recalculate my interest and term of the mortgage so it kind of feels like I am fighting a battle and winning with better terms in a sense.
My permanent position starts on the 1st of November so I may need to wait out being paid for a little while, at the moment I am unsure how long but my partner has money if we need to cover a few things and I can pay her back if I need too.My emergency fund is now only £500 so I would like to get that back up and some more savings in my car repair fund for when my mot is due in February.I am working this Sunday so that’s a extra £210 towards my goals. My partner is finding it hard with me working most of the week but the only way to improve are situation and have a good work life balance is to do what we are doing at the moment me only work 2 Sundays a month approximately.Booked my Christmas leave which is 12 days total, not too bad but what is also good about my new position is that I can purchase a extra weeks leave for next year which comes out of my wages over the 12 months so I am definitely going to take that for next summer.
anyways as always thanks for reading and I hope you are all following and achieving you’re goals

Over payment of £150 which saves £211 over the term of the Morgan.
Next week I will have a much larger payment for overtime and holiday money which means my next pay day won't be until the 20th of each month here on out. Sadly I may not be as active but I may pay myself each week to manage my funds so I don't accidently over spend or over pay what I can't afford
With that being said I might do micro over payments where savings have been made by myself.
I will now also have to support my partner financially as her maternity leave pay is over now. That will be approximately £600 I ll have to give her each month.
If there are any wise people out there where we could both benefit from anything in regards to are position that would be welcomed. I earn approximately £3k take home each month so I am aware benefits are out the question but if there is some sort of tax break me or my partner can get when she no longer has a job that would be welcomed and any advice or guidance would be helpful

Small over payment of £34.54 today, I did that just as a small micro punch in the Morgan. Saved £51 in interest over the term.
Just waiting for my last pay check on Thursday next week. 👍 see what damage I can do then, like a mortal combat combo attack on the Morgan

Well I did my calculations wrong, so my banked holiday hours that we're paid to me were 70 hours less due to taking those as holiday in September. That's the same time I asked what my banked hours were. That they were not deducted when I asked strangely enough.
Anyways my pay was £2057 and I paid off 2 of my partners cards so she isn't paying any interest anymore on those that are remaining.
I have some buffer money in my direct debt account £600 for bills and some in my normal day to day spend of about £300 I also topped up my baby savings fund with £120 so I am even now.
Basically this means I won't make a over payment on my mortgage until I know what I am getting paid on the 20th of this month. Fingers crossed I gave the right bank details.
I feel slightly let down with not making a overpayment and miscalculating my holiday pay but I am sure I ll make an nice lump sum when I get paid in my new role.
 Have a good weekend

Good to see your focus on the OPs even with a young family and I am sure its v motivating to see how much your are saving on interest on the OPs.
I dont know much re help on that but think the Citziens advice bureau may have some ideas? Or look on this MSE site on benefits etc.
I think the way you are going Morgan is being moved out in extra quick time!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
