Hello, having several food issues I make a lot of my food from scratch and batch cook (other problems). I have been using plastic containers that are cheap to freeze the food in but even after washing they can still smell of onions etc (am veggie) and I am not very organised to keep separate for fruity things and get muddled. I also worry about the plastic as that is not good for you either. What other ideas can I try? Thank you

There are glass containers available. With plastic lids normally. Not sure if there would be an issue with the liquids expanding and cracking the glass but that shouldn't be an issue if you don't over fill and the container slopes ever so slightly outwards to all for expansion.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. I have a stash of pyrex dishes that I bought over the years at different boot sales,I have two quite small ones that hold exactly one portion of mash to freeze, these are very handy and stack easily ,but I also have a stash of take away plastic boxes with lids I use.Two of which I keep separate from the rest as I tend to store stuff with either baked beans in or tomatoes based stuff which stain.I use them If I only use half a tin of tomatoes or beans to store in the fridge for next day I live alone so wouldn't eat a full tin at one go as they are used as a side dish as a rule

I use the glass ones with plastic lids the early ones didn’t have vented lids but seem to do now. A few years ago Asda did their own brand at a good price but not sure if they still do. I’ve heard people use plastic bags and wash out but not sure how they would cope with onions etc.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.2

I bought some reusable ones from asda and tesco and actually went as far as numbering them last weekend so all one batch has the number 1 on both the lid and base so you can see at first glance if they go together - could you do something similar number 1 for all fruity holding tubs and number 2 for veg holding tubs? I just used a permanent marker and it seems to survive the dishwasher....3

I use takeaway tubs, bought from Amazon. I have to say they have lasted over 3 years. I also have some ceramic dishes that are just the same size, so I can often decant such things like lasagna portions or cottage pie, straight into the ceramic dish and it can go in the oven, microwave or airfryer
I find these are perfect sizes for one portion,I use a permanent marker pen, to label and they store well in the freezer.2
