I have been contacted by letter from Barclays partner finance about a car loan I had with them, they are stating that they may not have correctly assessed my affordability for
the loan at the time of the application. How would you reply to the letter??

What does the rest of the letter say? Are they asking for money? Are they offering to pay you money? Is the loan still active?
Hard to know without the full context.1 -
Have you googled Barclays to see if the details match up? My first thought is a scam or someone trying to hook you due to outstanding debt which may not actually be payable. But if you go to the legit Barclays website, find the phone number there and ring (rather than anything on the letter itself) that might get you an answer if the letter is not very clear.
I do know that Barclays has done a lot of scrambling back on things that should not have been sold (PPI, PBA) or things that were not affordable (loans, raising credit limits on cards) so it's quite possible this is something new from their advocacy team.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. It is
an official letter from Barclays, def not a scam. It is not asking me for money but asking me to reply if I agree that the affordability wasn’t correct, the car was part exchanged about 9 months ago

How on earth are you meant to know what their affordability criteria were? Sounds very odd.1

Did you get into any financial difficulties as a result of this loan either with this loan or with other loans you already had or other household bills.0

My Husband got one of these letters in June as well. He replied and we are still awaiting their reply. He telephoned today and they told him that a decision is imminent and a letter will be sent out next week.. couldn't tell us anything other than that:A0

I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0
