BT Pension Scheme 1990

When I left BT in 1990 I had just under 5 years service and I was given the opportunity to pay an additional pension contribution that would enhance pensionable service to 5 years and provide additional benefits.
Stupidly, I destroyed the offer letter last year and BTPS are now denying that any such policy ever existed.
I clearly remember what I read in the letter but have no way of proving it. Can any ex-BT employees out there confirm that I'm not going mad?
Thanks!

When you left the scheme, in 1990 were you given a statement of deferred benefits?
Do you still have it?
According to the Section B section Scheme booklet (Google ), it was possible to buy added years.Added Years
You may be able, subject to certain restrictions, to
purchase additional years of Pensionable Service.
These are called Added Years. Further information
is available from Accenture – see ”Useful names and
addresses” section of this booklet.
All Added Years contracts taken out before
1 April 2009 continue on their pre 1 April 2009 terms,
including the definition of Final Pensionable Salary,
Normal Pension Age of 60 and the agreed cost of
purchase at the date when the contract was taken out.
All new Added Years contracts taken out on or after
1 April 2009 will be calculated on a Career Average
Revalued Earnings (CARE) basis and with a Normal
Pension Age of 65.
Additional Voluntary Contributions
You may pay Additional Voluntary Contributions
(AVCs) into a defined contribution fund managed
as part of the Scheme to increase your retirement
benefits. Details of AVCs are available on the Intranet,
where you may also apply to pay AVCs, increase your
contributions and choose your investment funds.
