My child only eats the thin bagels as normal size are too much and too bready /calorific for him - has them in packed lunch. This Monday they were 90p for 6 (and out of stock but that was normal price). Today go to get some and the exact same are £1.70 for 6! Why…….. (in asda - one I can get to without a car). No others to choose from so had to get but really….

Everything appears to be doubling in price when out of stock. I would suggest that you buy standard sized bagels and slice each half again to make them thinner and more palatable to him.7

Have you considered making your own? I know there are instructions online - but it might make it easier when they are out of stock.7

Thanks for the good ideas
The price just surprised me - I am gluten free and used to paying high price if I want bread (not often) and this was like GF price! Really want GF price to go down not non GF to go up

In my local asda there is one yellow sticker shelf just for bread products.
Every day you can buy Crumpets 6 for 10p and flatbreads 6 for 10p , Those are the things i buy but there are other bread products as well.8 -
Most breads freeze pretty well also. Though not all of us have enough freezer room.8

I have quite often seen thin bagels offered free on Olio - they freeze brilliantly 🙂2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Krakkkers - wish my asda did that as they have very few yellow sticker items and they are not reduced by that much. They have more chilled but again not reduced by much and fruit and veg is usually well passed its best by the time it gets to yellow sticker!
Jackieblack- no olio near me and hearing pickup times would be too late as child bedtime would clash but good if you can take advantage.
am hoping that the high price is just so they can suddenly say they are on special offer at a cheaper price - that would be nice6 -
I was in Tesco where they were hanging up the bunting saying 3 for 2 on bottled sauces. The Loyd Grossman ones were £3 a jar!!! So working on 3 for 2 works out at £2 a jar! Only last week I was refusing to buy them because they were £1.75 a jar with a clubcard....And Boots. Check your receipts. The last 3 times I've been in I've been overcharged with the price on the till coming up more than the price on the shelf. So much messing about to get it sorted out. And they don't appear to do anything about the errors with the pricing.Make £2025 in 2025

I always check the prices online at Tesco,Asda,Sainsbury's and Aldi's, all of my local supermarkets to me. I price up what I want and the best price is where I will buy it.I know it sounds a faff, and if you have a family, jobs, children as well its probably a bit too much, but as I'm retired I think of it as budgeting to save some loot which I can use on something else. I've always been a canny shopper (gene came from my little scots Mum, who could make a shilling do the work of three if she could)
A pound in my purse is better than in their tillsSupermarkets are not your friends they just want your cash in their tills thats what they are in business for, and every little, no matter how small, really does help you streetch your cash just a wee bit further in these straightened times.
I shop with the seasons as well, when it comes to fruit and veg. Old habits die hard i think:)

Tesco sauces are included in this offer though. 95p each and 3 for 2 isn't bad.7
