AIB Loan issue

The past two emails from Martin detail AIB as having the best rate for loans. Just be aware, you need to create a new bank account with them and register for online banking to take out a loan. 

I was not going to go through the hassle of creating a new bank account (which can take up to a week I was told by AIB) and then register for online for a loan. 

Instead I went to Post Office loans online, (not much difference in %) and applied in less than 10 mins.

As far as I can see from the articles showing AIB as one of the cheapest loan providers, they all say:

This is exactly for the reasons above.

If you go on AIB's website, it also states:

How to apply for a Personal Loan

Apply Online or via your AIB (NI) Mobile Banking app

1. You must be an existing personal current account customer who is registered for Online Services. Sole applicants only.

Do the emails from MSE not include this message or are you saying you needed to open a current account when making a telephone application?
