A months notice

I have handed my notice in my contact says a months notice. If I offer to work this but they tell me to go after a week. Do they have to pay me for the months notice my contract states?

Well I feel like I have been bullied out. I had enough stress on with the whole leaving after 11 years situation without the prospect of a massive agreement with my former boss. I'd found the last 6 months really stressful as a colleague left and my work load was doubled.
