Dwp threatening letter?

I owe £149 to dwp for overpaid benefits. We agreed payment plan at least a year ago £10 a month iv now had three letters from them over last year asking me to call them to increase my repayments. Each time I return the letter with a note stating £10 is what we agreed and £10 is what il pay. Can they make me pay more?

If it was a year ago surely you only owe them about 30 quid now, they aren't going to bother forcing you to pay more now.

Your balance cannot be very high by now, these letters are all computer generated, and are sent out en masse.

They are not really relevant to you when your debt is so small.

I would say it was safe to ignore them.

How can you now owe more than a year ago? Are you still getting overpaid?

She owed c£270 a year ago and now has £150 left to pay.
  • Hi, DWP debt manager here, if you've agreed to pay £10 a month, so long as you've kept up your payments they can't take any action against you.

What it sounds like to me is that you're up for annual review, I'd advise you to ring in and reaffirm that you can only afford £10 a month. we are encouraged to get you to pay as much as you can reasonably afford but if you make it clear you can't pay more more than £10 they won't fight with you over it.
