Delivered prawn pasta ready meal 10 days out of date. Contacted customer services at Sainsburys who are looking into it but will there be a record of the expiry details their end? Still got the product and was hoping to try it in date. What will come of this? Surely they'll refund or replace at the very least?

I'd be binning it asap. But first ensure you have photos of your receipt, front, back and date on the package and note whomever you talk to at Sainsburys. I have supplied similar evidence for items from Tescos or others and generally get emailed a voucher for the amount spend and another amount for messing up. So maybe £8.99 if the meal was £3.99 and they bung in an extra £5.
Important thing always with these is to be polite and understanding that people make mistakes - seems to work well for me at least!!! (not implying you wouldn't be of course!)
Someone mentioned to me once how packing is done in shop for deliveries and I was shocked at the number of items they were expected to pick in a very short time (as in 5 per minute or something). Basically seemed to equate to someone dashing about the shop at full tilt which means that something out of date would very easily be missed. I always visualise someone shopping for all the food for a long weekend for 12 people in the last 10 minutes before the shop shuts on Christmas eve.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Take some photographic evidence prior to putting it in the bin !
You may get a goodwill gesture for their error along with a refund.2 -

Unlikely to be 10 days beyond shelf life.
More likely to have been incorrectly date coded when produced. If it was genuinely ten days out of date the packaging would probably be all blown.
If you’ve reported it get it thrown away.1 -
They've refunded me2
