Oh my goodness! Went to Tesco today for club card offers on lactose free cheese, half and half sugar and Flora pro active. I fell foul of other offers on Jordans cereals, strawberrys and also bought ice cream and lollies. Of course I did a bulk buy on the offers so the total was £63.00. Ouch! Now I will find it difficult with DS and family coming at the end of the month but the offers were all things that we regularly eat. 😕
On the plus side I did get a few runner beans from the garden. I have decided not to grow veg next year and just let the rogue tomatoes, that seed themselves grow. I spend more than I save but I am glad that I tried. Still plenty of home grown tomatoes and some potatoes to wade through, but some of them are so small that they take ages to peel. Beans on toast for dinner tonight. We both fancy it and it will make the freezer stores go further.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

I don't bother peeling the small potatoes just boil them in their skins. Can either eat them like that with some butter on them or crush them, skins and all! Most of the goodness is in the skins anyway so do you good too!

The first time growing veggies is always the hardest I think. After that you know what will grow in your various pots and tubs. Leafy veggies grow well in tubs usually. I really like to grow radishes - but I use the sprouts so I sow very thickly in a pot and when they have the first two little leaves I use them in sandwiches. Taste just like the radish bulb but lighter. And they are a green vegetable. The tops are good even if they get bigger.6

@Florenceem - you're right to suggest that I sniff the milk before I pour especially first thing in the morning, unfortunately at that time of day I'm mostly on autopilot so I don't think I'll be able to do it, but I'll try. Anyway, thanks for the tip.
I'm claiming another NSD for yesterday and wanted to post a link to this recipe Chocolate Tahini Crunch Bars as it's gluten free and doesn't need any time in the oven. I made a half quantity in an 8 x 8 brownie tin to take to my Wednesday walking group meeting yesterday and the verdict was favourable overall. Here's how mine came out of the fridge.6 -
Florenceem said:Doing well today - my sister brought 12 hen and 6 duck free range eggs along to me - free.
As it's my birthday - been given M & S mango slices, lots of biscuits, cakes and other treats.
Another nsd here.4 -
Morning all, hope everyone is well. I’ve spent small amounts here there and everywhere so my new total is £119.97/350 and I still haven’t done a big shop yet6

Today has been a great relief. Since May DH has been having treatment, biopsys and ops to discover if he has cancer of the colon. Today we have discovered that there is nothing sinister. I would like to thank @elsiepac for this thread which has kept me going. You have all kept me interested in something that I had some control over whilst all around me was falling apart.

Soontobeoap - great news. Mr F is to have tests so I am worried that they suspect colon cancer. Was your husband anaemic?
