  • FluffyFiFi Have you thought about purchasing a pre-payment certificate? If you're on other medication too it might save you some money. I am currently taking 5 lots of medication and as my GP only prescribes me a month at a time it was costing me £34.25 per month. I've recently purchased a PPC and now pay just £9.87 per month via direct debit for all medication that I get prescribed.

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.
  • Thanks for the advice - just read the leaflet in with the tablets and it says not to take them if you have had jaundice, which I had when I was sixteen. Looks like I can't even take them now!

I would get that checked out Fluffy.

'Jaundice' really just means 'going yellow' it happens if your liver function is disturbed for some reason.

Some 'Jaundices' are caused by quite serious liver problems that mean that your liver is damaged, and it's function is permanently impared. Some are pretty minor and liver function isn't affected at all.

I would suppose that this warning is on the tablets as they are not appropriate for someone with impared liver function.

Chances are, you'll be absolutely fine with this medication, but you need to just ask your doctor about the jaundice, and if necessary, just have a few tests.

Really though, if your liver function was impared by a disease you had at 16, something would have shown up by now with the various tests you would have had as a matter of routine throughout your life.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • Thanks Toothsmith, I went to the chemist today and they said that if my liver is okay now then it should be fine, but like you they suggested I just remind my doctor before going ahead.

I was once prescribed surgical stockings - 2 separate stockings (I know they were 1 pair in one packet) 2 charges!

    Tights would have been 1!
