Hi there, my temporary agency wants me to book holiday to get paid for the bank holiday, can a temporary agency not pay for bank holiday?
I do not have any written contact with them and I have been with them for more then 1 month.

You don't have an automatic right to a paid bank holiday. Your entitlement is to a certain amount of paid annual leave per year. Do the agency pay in lieu of annual leave as you go? Usually an extra 12.07 percent .0

If you are not going to work on the bank holiday but would like to be paid for it, then book the day as a holiday and you will be paid for it.SORN said:Hi there, my temporary agency wants me to book holiday to get paid for the bank holiday, can a temporary agency not pay for bank holiday?

If you don't work but don't request it as holiday, you will be able to use that holiday allowance at another time.
That assumes you have accrued sufficient holiday hours to cover the day.
The thread title you used is not really correct in that the agency seems not to be declining to pay for the holiday but requires you to claim the holiday rather than automatically paying you and deducting the day from your accrued paid leave without your requesting it.1 -
As agency you won't get paid for a BH unless you submit a holiday request (assuming you've accrued enough hours), if you don't want to be paid for a BH then you just submit your hours for this week which will be less than usual due to the BH, and save your accrued hols for some other time(this is what I always did as agency staff)1
