About to have a domestic PV installation survey done. What things should the surveyor be looking at? What things should I be pointing out, or asking??

This is not a survey like a buildings survey - the surveyor will be looking at access, cable routes, location of electrics - he /she will want a copy of your bill for the MPANNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

They should be checking that your roof is strong enough to take the weight of the panels. They also need to check for any shading during the day, and work out how many panels they can fit, and where. If shading is an issue, you may need optimisers. If it isn't, then optimisers are a waste of money. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
To me , the most important output(s) of a survey are determining the # of panels that can fit (this must be measured) and where the wiring will run (internal or external) relative to inverter placement (attic/ utility room/ somewhere else).
