Didn't declare past accident on car insurance

My car insurance is coming up for renewal. Was looking on compare the market and from my previous stored details I had two previous claims/accidents noted down.  Looking at my current policy with my insurer I only have one accident down. The one I missed was Oct 2018 so still just within 5 years. I never made a claim someone hit me and settled privately but I imagine I probably reported it to my insurance at the time. My question is if I call to go through a renewal quote and I give them details of two claims, they will see from the current policy that I only told them one claim last time. I don't want it to affect my current insurance. Do I need to tell them about the incident as i never actually made a claim?

It's not as easy as that cos I have hire and reward insurance so they were the cheapest last time

Call them and be honest with them. Best case they charge you a change fee or even backdate the premiums to the start of the policy year.
If they cancel tell you they are cancelling the policy, you have to declare this going forward but if you cancel the policy or request the policy to be cancelled you dont.

Either that or cancel the policy as technically its not correct at the moment.

Unless hire and reward works differently you will get a renewal quote sent to you automatically so can see if you want to stay with them or not.

One would hope a company would not take a punitive stance against someone admitting an honest error (asking you to pay to make up the correct premium would not be punitive IMO).

However you chose to proceed you should answer all questions honestly and take care to give accurate information. I've noticed the comparison sites can be a bit vague just asking about 'claims' so check the exact wording of the insurer you intend to use, for example mine asks “Have you had any motor accidents, claims or losses in the past five years, no matter who was at fault or if a claim was made?” - worded like that it is completely clear that the incident needs to be disclosed.
