Where can I sit down and talk to someone and get advice?

Hi, I am in quite a bit of debt with a loan and credit card. I don't think I am at a level which requires an IVA or something along those lines but it will get to that level if I don't do something about it.
I find interest rates, APR, moving credit balance to another and everything like that extremely confusing and I need to sit with someone and talk about it and explain to me my options. I have googled some companies but I feel like an IVA or something like that is going to be forced on me or something.
Cheers

Christians against Poverty (CAP) may be an option if they are present in your area.2

Start on here?
before it comes to interest rates, and everything else first thing you need to do is understand why you’re in debt, why do you are still overspending, and how best to manage this to cut down.
A starting point is generally to do an SOA - effectively a budget to give me a full picture of your finances as they stand.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
Yes CAP are very hands-on.
Citizens Advice may do face-to-face but it depends on local policy
As a first choice i would check if there is a CMA centre in your area

Search for Community Money Advice, they probably have a branch near you. It's a network of money and debt advice centres.1

Ignore the bits you've talked about for the time being - because they aren't the bits you need to understand to start tackling things. your first priority is to understand all your income and outgoings - you might find putting together a Statement of Affairs helpful on that. The link to one of the calculators we recommend is in my signature.
You've been given some great advice on those organisations that might be able to help you with talking things through as well - the key thing is that if you contact anyone for debt advice who starts talking about charging you for that advice, or charging you for a Debt management plan, then you need to walk away immediately - there is no need to pay for that.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
