What a wild night it was. ☹️ Just as I was arriving home yesterday afternoon the winds started to rise then kept on blowing a hoolie and still going strong. I'm glad I got the back garden grass cut on Thursday evening. The drive down to Glasgow was lovely, clear roads and skies. I made it to my appointment in good time. The only disappointment was that I got a text from JL telling me that the order I was expecting to collect from Waitrose had been delayed by 24 hours. No good for me. When I got home I phoned their customer service, the agent sent me a e-gift card for £10.00 so I could reorder the goods for delivery to my home. 👏👏 Well done JL.
Today I intend to watch the wind raging and rest up. No shopping required after stocking up the other day.Floss - Oban has some interesting parts and is the gateway to much more. See https://www.oban.org.uk My German friends loved it before going right up north. They are now at Harwich ferry terminal ready for their journey home. Seeing them was such a joy.Coxy - is there a chance for redeployment instead of VR? Or perhaps you don't want it.My thoughts are with all those looking after or worrying about their parents. It's such a struggle. I hope that everyone is doing at least fine. Happy Saturday to all.12 -
Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's raining here, the forecast is not good either. This summer has been a bit of a disappointmenr, after such a cold spring as well.
Dh started to cut the hedge yesterday but was rained off , so he couldn't finish it. He's not well either, with back pain and a cold starting.
Today, I'll try and persuade him to stay indoors with the heat pad on his back.
Did you buy a combi microwave TA, they tend to be big and heavy. I'm on to my second one, I like them - I don't use the 'big' oven half as much.
Coxy, hope your dad will be ok.
Wicked lady hope your Whitby weekend goes well.
Thinking of others who aren't well, also the non sleepers, sympathy to you. I've never slept a full night without waking several times for years. It's debilitating if you have several bad nights in a row.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, take care folks.12 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Well done to JL, that's how all customer services should respond. We had overnight rain too but if it was heavy it didn't wake me, which is unusual for me. Some nights a dropped pin on the carpet would wake me! The sun is now trying to get out but it needs to try harder!
DD and the girls are not at the caravan next week so I have decided to go on Monday for the week. I usually leave the school holidays for them to come and go, in between her work. But as a good week was forecast I decided to take advantage. Then what happens - they revise the forecast to more days of sunshine and showers! Grr! Anyway I am still going, if only for a change of scene. As usual a good supply of books will be going with me.
SCARLET no, it's just an ordinary microwave. My very first one, way back in the late 70's, was a combi so I knew how heavy they were but now I am on my own I rarely use the big oven as I use the air fryer instead. Anyway the new mw is now in situ in the kitchen and I am pleased with it.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and poorly parents. COXY I am pleased your DDad is going ahead with the treatment now he is back home but can appreciate what a worry it is for you so far away. Take care all be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning All
A very wet and windy start to the day, the wind started to blow hard last night with rain soon following. It hasn't rained all week so mustn't complain. I wish I had put the washing out yesterday. There's a load in at the moment but will keep it inside as it's to be a wet and miserable day.
Busy day at work then a trip to Costco with DD and the little one, I only bought things for other people so a cheap trip for me. Called at the big HB too to stock up on toiletries and some hairbands for the little one - they are her new favourite thing.
Hope the VR offer is what you wanted Coxy, glad your DDad is getting treatment.
I have a combi microwave TA and it is very heavy although I don't really use the oven part, prefer the halogen oven.
Swimming, shopping and allotment on the agenda today along with a trip to the library, apart from that it will be housework - what a joy!
Hope you all have a good weekend, take care. XX

Morning all from sunny Harrogate.
We arrived here via a stop for a scone and cream at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. No time to go round the park this time but we have been before and it was well worth a visit. I seem to have booked a Premier Plus room and it's so much nicer than an ordinary P Inn. We have a fridge, coffee machine and a decent shower - not one over the bath! We'll be heading off for breakfast at Betty's, Harlow Carr, when we move on and then a nice drive across the moors to Whitby.
TA; we bought a new microwave soon after Lockdown. It's one without the turntable, although I imagine that bit is hidden in the base but it's very heavy. Hard work to move it when I want to clean the worktop underneath.
Nanny: Stony is still the same. An attractive small town but we chose to live in N Pagnell as it was more convenient for DH's work all those years ago.
Have a lovely weekend all.

Morning everyone
We must have had heavy rain through the night as it is soaking wet outside. Meant to be sunny today but windy - it's always bloomin windy!
I had a nice day out yesterday with my mam and little one - unfortunately we didn't have as long as planned with my aunt and uncle as there was roadworks on the A1 and the bus ended up being an hour late getting to Alnwick. Little one was getting very fed up as it made the journey twice as long - I don't know how many times she asked 'when is the bus going to move?'
Today I need to pop to the shop then I'm going to start getting my pictures back up in the living room and kitchen. At lunchtime a community centre nearby is holding a school uniform swap - so I'll go along to see if there's anything suitable for little one. There have been various collection points around town and it's all free to take away.
My painter is coming for a few hours this afternoon - it's looking really nice but taking longer than expected as there's lots of cracks to fill in and bits of plastering to do.
Right I'd better get on. Hope everyone has a good day today...and some sunshine x11 -
Morning all
its meant to be a glorious sunny day here but guess what ….. it’s raining again 🙄 I’m hoping that the sun comes out later. OH has gone to the boot sale and DD still in bed so all peaceful here I’m just having a cup of tea and will then get on.
Curtain rails will be going up today and the handrail up the stairs, it’s quite hard to go up and down the stairs with no rail 😳 we are also putting a hanging rail in the boot cupboard for our coats we seem to have quite a lot of coats between us and there is never enough hooks so I have bought a load of hangers so we can hang our coats. I can start to get things back in the boot cupboard then and get back to normal, There is also a cupboard to put together if we have time.
Dinner tonight will be burger in a bun with chips, nice and easy after all the work. I’m hoping DD will take the dogs out later to save us a job.
Have good days all and take care xx7 -
Hello all, we had wild weather last night but it's calmed down today. This morning I have stripped the bed but I'm not sure about washing the bedding as the weather is swinging between sunshine, cloud and mizzling rain, I'll wait a bit and see if it gets any better. I need to clean upstairs today and re-make the bed, exciting day ahead eh ?
Last night's Indian takeaway was very tasty and there's some leftover for tonight, pudding will be the strawberries and cream that we couldn't manage to eat as we were so full of curry and rice 😁
Have a good day if you can, hugs all round, especially to those with poorly parents or DH's.
Take care all
nan xx
