Hi all,
I need some help, I'm not sure what to do.
I've received text messages for the last few months from Lowell. They have my name and number correct, but they keep saying they've sent me letters which I've never received. The latest text says Hi (Removed by Forum Team) xxxxxxx, it's Lowell. If you don't contact us, we can't take your circumstances into account before we consider our next steps. Call our team today on 03335565570. Your reference is 318xxxxxxxxx.
I know I don't owe anything other than what I'm aware of CC/Loan/Mortgage. I have checked all 3 credit agencies everything is fine, I there is nothing in the history, and I've not see any refence to Lowell checking my file. So this makes me question if they have the correct person, because if they checked my file they would have the right address surely? And surely checking a credit file would be something they would do?
What I don't want to do is call or write and give them my address and then have it pinned on me.
Do I just ignore it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Relax, its standard collection activity, nothing to worry about, they will have bought an account that they think may be linked to you, but there may be some doubt, so they are attempting to persuade you to contact them, by saying they have written to you (which they haven`t done as yet) by sending texts etc which are cheap.
Its commonly referred to as a "fishing trip", they will likely have contacted many other Andrews with similar surnames, hoping they will get a bite from at least one of them.
If they want to get serious, they have to write to you by good old fashioned snail mail, so unless or until that happens, you can ignore Lowell and get on with your life.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Phew, thank you sourcrates. I wasn't sure what was best to do. Obviously I don't want anything negative on my credit history, hence my concern. But if it's just them fishing I'll wait it out further and see if they ever send a letter.
Would it be normal practice for a debt collector to check credit history? Just thinking if it was something to look out for.
Many thanks,

is it worth keeping a log of all the texts then reporting them to the FCA ?1

Just ignore. They'll go away eventually1

They may run a rudimentary trace on you, search`s are ten a penny, nothing to worry about.
You can check your credit files, if they are reporting on there it will need dealing with, but otherwise the advice hasn`t changed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
