Amazon Prime Day Question

With another Amazon Prime Day coming up in a few weeks time, I want to know if there are any conditions around when to become a member. For example, I am frequently offered a free 30 day trial of AP. I intend to buy a new Kindle reader when they are discounted but don't know whether I have to have been an AP member for a certain length of time. Otherwise I will sign up to AP shortly before Prime Day and then get the discounted price.

You only need to be a Prime member at the time the offers are available. They tend to stop offering free memberships just before Prime Days though.
